It appears increasingly probable that Karl Scott will be the sole Pete Carroll assistant retained by Mike Macdonald’s coaching team.
Two coaches from the Seahawks’ 2023 season have secured positions with other teams and have even reunited with former Seahawks colleagues.
Roy Anderson, the secondary coach, is set to become the cornerbacks coach for the Philadelphia Eagles. He will be working alongside Clint Hurtt, the former Seahawks defensive coordinator who now serves as the defensive line coach for the Eagles. Anderson’s tenure with the Seahawks lasted only a year, filling in a role left by Sean Desai, who moved on to become the defensive coordinator for the Eagles. While it might seem like Philadelphia has a penchant for hiring Seahawks coaches, the decision is more tied to Vic Fangio. Anderson previously worked under Fangio during their time with the Chicago Bears, and Hurtt also had a stint as the Bears’ outside linebackers coach. Despite Desai’s connection to Fangio, his tenure as Eagles’ defensive coordinator didn’t pan out, leading the Eagles to hire Fangio himself for the position.
Meanwhile, Robbie Picazo, an offensive assistant, has joined Shane Waldron’s staff as part of the Bears’ coaching team. Similar to Anderson, Picazo spent just one year with the Seahawks, following a season with the Houston Texans and several years at Stanford University.
Currently, the status of other 2023 Seahawks coaches regarding their future with Macdonald’s staff or other teams remains unconfirmed:
– Associate Head Coach: Carl Smith
– Quarterbacks Coach: Greg Olson
– Offensive Assistant: Donovan Jackson
– Assistant Defensive Line (DTs): Damione Lewis
– Defensive Assistant: Neiko Thorpe
