Fremantle has strengthened its roster of key forwards in preparation for the 2024 season by including Patrick Voss on its rookie list.
The announcement of Voss’s signing by Fremantle came on Thursday evening, just before the deadline for the pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP) on Monday.
Having trained with the club since December of the previous year, the 20-year-old showcased his prowess in forward play and marking skills during the pre-season, notably scoring multiple goals in match simulations and intra-club games.
Previously part of Essendon’s roster for two years, Voss earned recognition by winning the Club’s VFL best and fairest award in 2023, having scored 30 goals in 17 games.
According to Fremantle’s Head of List Management, David Walls, the addition of the 194cm tall Voss provides valuable depth to the team’s key forward positions, praising his performance and dedication during the summer training period.
Due to long-term injuries sidelining Sebit Kuek and Josh Corbett for the 2024 season, Fremantle had two vacant spots on their list but decided to fill only one, reserving the second spot for the Mid-Season Rookie Draft.
Walls expressed gratitude to other trainees, Max Beattie, Sam van Rooyen, and Daniel McKenzie, for their contributions during the pre-season, acknowledging their potential and work ethic. Unfortunately, McKenzie sustained an injury during his time with Fremantle.
Voss is set to participate in the club’s intra-club match at Victor George Kailis Oval on Friday morning.
