Spencer Dinwiddie, the former Nets guard, is set to join the Lakers after becoming a free agent, as reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic on Twitter.
Charania mentions that the Lakers, along with a few other playoff contenders, have offered Dinwiddie a notable role within their team. The Mavericks, where Dinwiddie previously played during the 2022/23 season, also expressed interest in signing him.
With an available roster spot, the Lakers won’t need to release any players to accommodate Dinwiddie. Additionally, the team still has approximately $1.5 million of their mid-level exception remaining, which they can use to sign him since they didn’t use the full amount on Gabe Vincent. Yossi Gozlan, a cap expert, notes that the Lakers will have sufficient space below the luxury tax threshold for potential additional signings.
