Las Vegas Raiders’ defensive player Charles Snowden hasn’t seen action in an NFL regular season game since Week 15 of the 2021 season. He’s had limited playing time, with just six defensive snaps and 13 special teams snaps in his brief career. However, Snowden’s future now hinges on the Raiders, known for their knack in nurturing players who initially struggled to secure a roster spot.
Undrafted in 2021, Snowden initially joined the Chicago Bears but only played two games before being cut during final roster decisions in 2022. Despite a minimal preseason performance, recording just one tackle in three games, Snowden’s journey continued as he landed on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice squad in November. Eventually, Tampa Bay offered him a reserve/future contract in January 2023. Although Snowden showcased potential with three tackles and a sack during the 2023 preseason, he was again waived during final roster cuts. His path led him to the Raiders, who added him to their practice squad in December before securing him with a reserve/future contract the following month, valuing his services at $795,000 for one year.
Before stepping into the NFL, Snowden displayed his skills at Virginia, where he started 35 out of 45 games during his four-year tenure. He received recognition as an All-ACC Second Team member for his standout performance in 2020, his final collegiate season. Unfortunately, his college career was cut short due to a season-ending injury after eight games that year. Nonetheless, Snowden left a mark as a Cavalier, accumulating impressive stats: 190 combined tackles, 30.5 for losses, 15 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and two interceptions.
Looking ahead, the NFL Scouting Combine is scheduled from February 27 to March 4, 2024, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind., followed by the NFL Draft in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024.
