Verstappen has solidified his position as the dominant figure in today’s Formula 1 era by clinching the last three World Championships, firmly establishing himself among the sport’s greatest drivers. Despite his contract with Red Bull running until the end of 2028, recent speculation has linked him with a potential move away from the team, particularly amidst the turmoil involving team principal Christian Horner.
Following the season opener in Bahrain, where Horner faced scrutiny over his conduct, Verstappen’s father Jos publicly called for Horner’s resignation, accusing him of causing problems and playing the victim. However, Horner dismissed these concerns, emphasizing that no individual is above the team.
In an interview with Dutch publication AD, Verstappen hinted strongly that he intends to remain with Red Bull, stating that the uncertainty surrounding his future has diminished. He expressed his willingness to reassure any worried members of the team personally, encouraging them not to be swayed by external speculation.
While addressing the speculation surrounding the departure of Red Bull’s longtime design guru Adrian Newey, Verstappen stressed the importance of retaining key personnel within the team. He acknowledged the competitive nature of retaining talent in Formula 1 but emphasized the significance of maintaining a natural relationship with team members rather than forcing them to stay against their will.
