The renowned New York Yankees’ power hitter Aaron Judge is taking a hiatus from batting in the upcoming days due to experiencing discomfort in his abdominal muscles. Despite this setback, Judge remains optimistic about being fully prepared for the Opening Day.
After notifying Yankees’ medical staff about the discomfort in his abs, Judge underwent an MRI scan, which fortunately showed no significant issues.
“I’ve been feeling something minor for about a week. Instead of pushing through it, I decided to take some time to ensure I’m at my best,” Judge stated to reporters on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Judge skipped batting practice but participated in other drills. He is also anticipated to sit out Wednesday’s spring training game against the Boston Red Sox, with the possibility of missing a few more before returning to the lineup over the weekend.
Judge emphasized, “My priority is getting ready for Opening Day.”
It appears Judge is adopting a cautious approach to prevent any potential long-term consequences that could affect his performance in the 2024 season. His 2023 season was limited to 106 games due to a toe injury, resulting in a batting average of .267, 37 home runs, and 75 RBIs.
The Yankees will commence their 2024 season with an away game against the Houston Astros on March 28.
