The recruiting efforts continue with plenty of updates about Ohio State. Thanks to the commitments of Bo Jackson and Isaiah West, Ohio State’s running back lineup has significantly improved over the past month. With two top-choice recruits secured, Carlos Locklyn has excelled since joining the coaching staff, bringing a refreshing change.
The Buckeyes aim to recruit three running backs in this class. Initially, the third spot was linked to California native and Mater Dei standout, Jordon Davison, who is ranked No. 96 nationally and sixth at his position by 247Sports Composite. Davison is set to announce his decision on June 28, with Ohio State, Oregon, Michigan, and Alabama as the finalists. Despite a successful visit to Columbus, Ohio State is no longer leading his recruitment.
The Buckeyes’ current commitments have allowed other schools, especially Oregon, to gain traction with Davison. Consequently, Ohio State appears to be focusing on other prospects like Alabama commit Anthony Rogers and Tennessee’s Shekai Mills-Knight. Essentially, Ohio State has withdrawn from the Davison pursuit. Nonetheless, Ohio State will learn Davison’s decision on Friday, and despite not landing him, the current running back recruits form a strong class with more potential additions.
Earlier this week, Ohio State received positive news with four-star defensive tackle Anthony Rogers trending towards them. Additionally, predictions for fellow 2025 defensive tackle target Trajen Odom also favored the Buckeyes. Odom, ranked No. 283 nationally and No. 31 at his position by 247Sports Composite, is a North Carolina native pursued by Larry Johnson. Following successful recruitments like Tyliek Williams, insiders like Bill Kurelic predict a win for Ohio State, further boosting an already strong defensive line class. This would be a significant victory given Odom’s other offers from top programs like Alabama, Georgia, and USC.
At the Rivals Five-Star event, Ohio State commits showcased their talents against some of the nation’s best. Offensive lineman Carter Lowe impressed by winning multiple reps, displaying quick feet and a strong burst off the ball. On defense, recent commit Zion Grady dominated in one-on-one drills, highlighting his speed and power, and proving why he’s a top pass rusher.
Additionally, 2025 quarterback commit Tavien St. Clair continued his impressive offseason, earning the Quarterback MVP honor at the event. His stellar performance has solidified his composite five-star status, leading many to consider him the nation’s top quarterback in the 2025 class. Currently ranked No. 14 nationally and third among quarterbacks by 247Sports Composite, St. Clair’s ranking may improve further before signing day.
