West Ham appears poised to make a third attempt to sign Wolves defender Max Kilman, who recently attracted a part-exchange offer from Newcastle United over the weekend.
According to The Telegraph, Newcastle proposed a deal involving Elliot Anderson and cash for the centre-back, but this was swiftly rejected as Wolves insisted on a £40m valuation.
A few days later, Fabrizio Romano reported that West Ham remains determined to acquire the 27-year-old and is preparing to submit another bid. Their initial £25m offer was quickly declined, and it’s believed their second bid, which included a part-exchange, was also turned down by Wolves.
It’s unclear if Newcastle will return with a new proposal for the 6ft 4′ defender, as new Hammers manager Julen Lopetegui seems keen to reunite with Kilman, having previously worked with him at Molineux.
Kilman would be a solid addition, boasting significant Premier League experience and serving as his club’s captain. While he could flourish under Eddie Howe, there might be better options available in the market, especially considering this would likely be a long-term replacement for Fabian Schar.
