Cole Strange has been sidelined since December due to a knee injury.
This week, it was announced that the Denver Broncos would be without linebacker Drew Sanders for their season opener against the Seattle Seahawks. When Seattle visits Foxboro to play the New England Patriots in Week 2, the Patriots will likely be missing one of their starting offensive linemen.
Cole Strange, who sustained a significant knee injury last December in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs, is not expected to be ready for the start of the 2024 season.
Strange was a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, which surprised Sean McVay, and has started 27 games at left guard. His performance has shown improvement in run blocking, although his pass blocking has declined, according to PFF grades.
According to Pats Pulpit:
When New England began OTA’s on Monday, second-year guard Sidy Sow took Strange’s usual spot on the line. Sow impressed as a rookie last season at right guard and primarily played left guard in college.
The Patriots also added guards Nick Leverett and Michael Jordan this offseason and drafted Layden Robinson in the fourth round of the NFL Draft. With Sow moving to the left guard position, Leverett played as the top right guard, with Robinson as his backup.
New England’s offensive line struggled with pass protection last season and will need to find a solution at left guard for this year.
