Despite being absent from the Bombers’ Gather Round event due to concussion protocols, Durham has recuperated effectively from his head injury in round three and is anticipated to be cleared for participation after displaying strong performance in training this week.
In positive developments, Dylan Shiel and Tex Wanganeen are slated to make their comeback via the VFL this weekend, provided they complete a full week of training.
Shiel has successfully overcome the oblique strain that kept him out for the past two weeks, while Wanganeen is poised for competitive action for the first time this weekend following a prolonged recovery from foot surgery during the off-season.
Archie Perkins will be sidelined for the next three weeks after straining his hamstring towards the end of the third quarter in the Bombers’ defeat to the Power.
Midfielder Will Setterfield is expected to remain absent after aggravating the knee injury he sustained during the round two match against Sydney.
After experiencing a hit to the same area during the loss to Port Adelaide, Setterfield is likely to miss at least the next two matches.
Defender Jordan Ridley is facing another 4-6 weeks on the sidelines after re-injuring his existing quad injury during rehabilitation.
“’Rids’ experienced discomfort following training last week, and subsequent scans unfortunately revealed a re-injury of the quad he sustained during our Community Series pre-season game against Geelong,” stated GM – Football, Daniel McPherson.
“Given this recent setback and Jordan’s injury history, we will adopt a cautious approach to his rehabilitation, resulting in him being sidelined for several weeks from this point.”
Matt Guelfi is steadily progressing in his recovery from a calf strain and appears to be a couple of weeks away from making a comeback.
