The Kansas City Chiefs are accustomed to having fans who engage in criminal activities on the side. Following the infamous “Chiefsaholic” case, a new incident has surfaced. According to FOX4 News Kansas City, Joseph Brown Sr., a local Chiefs supporter, stands accused of stealing over $45,000 worth of equipment from the Miami Dolphins organization in January of this year.
Court documents reveal that Brown has been charged with a class C felony of theft by prosecutors from Jackson County earlier this week. The theft occurred on Jan. 14, the day after the AFC Divisional Wildcard game between the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
Upon investigation, it was found that a box truck belonging to the Miami Dolphins, containing various equipment for the team, was broken into. Items stolen included aqua blue equipment cases, large equipment cases, gloves, shoes, football pads, media equipment, Pelican cases, cold weather gear, hockey bags with coats, and game film, totaling $46,376 in value. Miami Dolphins officials have cooperated with detectives in the investigation.
Surveillance footage revealed a dark grey vehicle, identified as Brown’s Ford-F150, near the scene. The vehicle was later located by the police, containing equipment boxes matching those stolen from the Dolphins’ truck. Brown attempted to flee when approached by the police. This isn’t Brown’s first encounter with the law regarding theft, as he was previously convicted in 2021.
Brown’s bond has been set at $50,000 in cash. The incident may spark a rivalry between the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs, especially considering the playoff match between the two teams in January.
In a separate case involving another Chiefs fan, Xavier Babudar, who is known for wearing a grey wolf suit at Chiefs games, pleaded guilty to various charges including money laundering and bank robbery.
While the case of “Chiefsaholic” gained notoriety, it’s uncertain if it inspired the Miami Dolphins robbery. Nevertheless, it’s a concerning trend for fans of the NFL’s top team. However, authorities acted swiftly in resolving the Dolphins’ heist compared to the prolonged hunt for Chiefsaholic.
