Clayton Keller contributed both a goal and an assist, while Nick Schmaltz provided three assists, propelling the Arizona Coyotes to a 4-1 triumph over the New Jersey Devils in Tempe, Ariz., on Saturday.
Keller facilitated Dylan Guenther’s power-play goal in the initial period, elevating his career point tally to 400 before securing the victory with an empty-netter. Keller’s achievement marks him as the seventh player in franchise history to reach 400 points with the team.
In addition to scoring and assisting on a goal during regulation, Schmaltz also succeeded in the shootout during Arizona’s 4-3 victory over New Jersey on Oct. 13 in Newark, N.J.
Logan Cooley and defenseman J.J. Moser also found the net on Saturday, with Karel Vejmelka making 37 saves to steer the Coyotes to their second consecutive win.
Despite a goal from New Jersey’s defenseman Nick DeSimone in the second period, the Devils struggled, with Kaapo Kahkonen conceding three goals on 15 shots before being replaced by Nico Daws, who made 16 saves.
Moser initiated the scoring in the first period with a wrist shot from the slot, marking his fifth goal of the season. Guenther later doubled the lead with a shot from the left circle, while Cooley capitalized on a turnover to extend Arizona’s advantage before DeSimone countered with a goal for the Devils in the second period.
