The Minnesota Vikings have reached an agreement with Blake Cashman, a former linebacker for the Houston Texans and a rising talent, during the initial phase of the NFL’s legal tampering period.
A reliable source confirms that Cashman plans to sign a three-year deal worth potentially $25.5 million with the Vikings once free agency officially begins. Despite interest from multiple teams, Cashman opted to return to his home state where he previously played college football for the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Before committing to the Vikings, Cashman had expressed his intention to give the Texans the opportunity to match any offer he received. He emphasized his preference to stay in Houston due to familiarity and mutual benefit.
However, the Vikings emerged as the victors in the end.
Cashman is coming off his most impressive season yet, achieving a career-high of 106 total tackles, along with two sacks, one interception, and one fumble recovery, before entering free agency.
Originally selected in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Texans, Cashman brings with him 181 total tackles and a reputation for consistently being in the midst of the action.
Recognized as a rising defensive talent, Pro Football Focus notes that Cashman limited opposing quarterbacks to a low 83.7 passer rating when targeted last season. Additionally, his run-defense grade of 84.7 underscores his versatility and impact within the front seven.
