Collingwood’s defender John Noble has secured his position for the upcoming clash against GWS in the Opening Round this Saturday night, after experiencing a disappointing September last year.
Noble, who had an impressive streak of 83 consecutive games, was omitted from Craig McRae’s team just before the finals, as the Pies went on to claim their 16th premiership title.
As his teammates triumphed in three thrilling finals with a combined margin of 12 points, Noble could only watch from the sidelines, missing out on the chance to win a premiership medal. However, he has returned to the club determined for the 2024 season.
McRae commented on Noble’s comeback, highlighting his improved fitness and strength, with the defender putting on 4kg or 5kg. He emphasized the importance of players like Noble in the team’s journey back to success.
Noble will be part of the defensive lineup alongside Charlie Dean, who is making his much-anticipated debut despite facing back injuries in the past. McRae’s decision indicates his trust in Dean, a recipient of the 2022 Fothergill-Round-Mitchell medal.
Meanwhile, the status of fan-favorite Finlay Macrae was also addressed by McRae, expressing the team’s eagerness to include him. McRae stated that Macrae is close to playing, showcasing excellent speed in training, and the coaching staff is monitoring his readiness closely.
Collingwood is set to take on GWS at GIANTS Stadium on Saturday at 7:30 pm (AEDT).
