The likelihood of the New England Patriots trading quarterback Mac Jones is increasing, but it seems they shouldn’t anticipate a significant return for him. According to sources in rival front offices, the Patriots might hope for a fifth-round pick in exchange for Jones, although some view even that as optimistic, suggesting they might only manage to secure a sixth-rounder.
This indicates that Jones’ trade value is minimal. Despite being drafted just three years ago as the 15th pick, Jones hasn’t lived up to expectations with the Patriots. Compared to Trey Lance, who was drafted in the same year but fetched a fourth-round pick in a trade, Jones hasn’t provided enough reason for teams to believe in him as a long-term starting option.
With the Patriots seemingly planning to trade him and move on, it’s clear that they are looking to replace him through the draft, cutting their losses after three seasons of disappointing performance, during which Jones threw 46 touchdowns but also 36 interceptions in 42 games.
