Reports suggest that Tottenham are at the forefront of the race to secure the transfer of Jaden Philogene. According to sources cited by Teamtalk, Spurs have been closely monitoring the 22-year-old winger, who has been making waves for Hull City this season.
Philogene made the switch from Aston Villa to Hull last summer in a deal worth £5 million, with Villa including a buy-back clause in the agreement. This clause allows Villa to reacquire the player for £15 million if he contributes to Hull’s promotion to the Premier League.
However, the buy-back arrangement also stipulates that if another club offers more than £15 million for Philogene, Villa would need to match that offer to bring him back. Tan Kesler, vice-chairman of Hull, is confident that Philogene’s impressive performances in the Championship would command a higher fee than £15 million.
With eight goals in 20 league appearances for Hull and a call-up to the England Under-21 squad, Philogene has become a key player for the Tigers. Addressing concerns from Hull fans about the potential loss of their star player, Kesler emphasized that Philogene belongs to Hull City and highlighted the conditions of Villa’s buy-back clause, stressing that any potential deal would be significant for Villa.
