Hannah Darling has secured her spot in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur for the third time, earning an invitation to the 2024 edition scheduled for April. As a 20-year-old member of Broomieknowe and a junior at the University of South Carolina, she will be one of only three British players in the 72-person field alongside Charlotte Heath and Lottie Woad.
Darling, who qualified through the World Amateur Golf Ranking, was one of 43 eligible players to accept invitations. She previously competed in the event in 2022, finishing joint-27th, and narrowly missed advancing to the final round last year by one stroke.
Starting her collegiate season in the fall of 2023, Darling has shown strong performance with three top 20 finishes, including a joint-seventh placement in the Jackson T. Stephens Cup. Recently, she contributed to the University of South Carolina’s victory in the Therese Hession Regional Team Challenge, adding to the team’s successful season under head coach Kalen Anderson.
The Augusta National Women’s Amateur, held just prior to the 88th Masters, will feature an international field competing in 54 holes of stroke play. The first two rounds will be at Champions Retreat Golf Club on April 3rd and 4th, with a practice round at Augusta National on April 5th. The final round, including the top 30 players and ties, will take place at Augusta National on April 6th. Notable participants include past champions Tsubasa Kajitani and Anna Davis, as well as world No. 1 Ingrid Lindblad from Sweden.
