Pakistan middle-order batsman Salman Ali Agha is unfazed by Babar Azam’s recent batting struggles, expressing confidence that the seasoned 29-year-old knows how to overcome these challenges. Despite Azam’s tough period, including a modest performance in the Test series against Australia, Salman remains optimistic. Azam exhibited signs of improvement in the T20I series against New Zealand, accumulating 213 runs with three fifties at an average of 42.60 and a strike rate of 142.
Given Babar Azam’s track record, Salman believes the Lahore native will bounce back soon. Speaking to Cricket Pakistan, Salman stated, “We’re not worried about his form, and he understands how to navigate through these situations.”
In the upcoming 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), Azam will lead Peshawar Zalmi, while Salman will be part of Islamabad United. PSL 9 is scheduled to take place from February 17 to March 18 in Lahore, Multan, Karachi, and Rawalpindi.
The Peshawar Zalmi squad for PSL 9 includes captain Babar Azam, along with players like Rovman Powell, Saim Ayub, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, and others. On the other hand, Islamabad United’s squad, led by Shadab Khan, features notable players such as Naseem Shah, Imad Wasim, Alex Hales, and Colin Munro.
