Barcelona possesses two of the most promising young strikers in global football, with 18-year-old Vitor Roque and 17-year-old Marc Guiu standing out. Despite limited playing time, both players have demonstrated remarkable performance, collectively scoring two goals this season in various competitions.
Roque recently secured crucial goals in the last two matches, clinching the winner against Osasuna and adding another against Deportivo Alaves before receiving a red card. Simultaneously, Guiu showcased his talent by scoring the decisive goal against Athletic Club and contributing a second goal against Royal Antwerp in the Champions League, even though Barcelona suffered a 3-2 defeat away from home.
Barcelona has high expectations for these exceptionally skilled youngsters to eventually succeed Robert Lewandowski, who is displaying signs of slowing down. Additionally, the club is eyeing talent from other European teams, particularly 19-year-old Benfica striker Jose Miguel Melro. Reports from MARCA indicate that Barcelona is closely monitoring Melro’s progress with the U-21 Benfica side.
Melro, viewed as the next promising forward from the prolific Benfica youth academy, has impressively scored 13 goals in 16 matches for the Benfica reserve team. His playing style is said to resemble that of Barcelona’s Joao Felix. With Melro’s contract set to expire in 2025, there is speculation that a move away from Portugal, possibly as early as this summer, could be in the cards. Several first-division teams have expressed interest in signing him, and Barcelona may attempt to secure a transfer from Benfica to prevent the risk of losing the teenager on a free transfer or to a rival in the top flight.
