The Atlanta Braves’ general manager, Alex Anthopoulos, addressed fans at the team’s annual fan fest who were suggesting that the team should make one more significant move. During the event, some fans playfully urged Anthopoulos to trade for Chicago White Sox pitcher Dylan Cease. Although Anthopoulos found the suggestion amusing, he candidly revealed that they had already attempted such a move but found it to be expensive.
This high asking price has limited the market for Cease, despite the White Sox expressing openness to trading him throughout the offseason.
While a new team has recently been linked to a potential Cease trade, no imminent deal seems to be in place, and the cost remains prohibitive.
It seems that the Braves have likely completed their major pitching move for the offseason, as Anthopoulos is cautious about not sacrificing too much at this point in the season.
