On Wednesday, municipal law enforcement carried out a non-bailable arrest warrant against Prashant Vaidya, a former cricketer, in connection with a case of bounced cheques. Vaidya, who participated in four One Day Internationals for India during the mid-1990s, was presented in court, where he was subsequently released on a surety bond, as confirmed by a police representative. The charges against him involve the alleged issuance of a bounced cheque for steel purchased from a local trader. Following the bounced cheque, the trader insisted on a fresh payment, according to Inspector Vitthalsingh Rajput from Bajaj Nagar police station.
Reportedly, when Vaidya declined to make the payment, the trader took the matter to court, resulting in the issuance of a non-bailable warrant due to Vaidya’s failure to attend court hearings, stated the official. It is noteworthy that Prashant Vaidya currently serves as the head of the cricket development committee of the Vidarbha Cricket Association.
